The first day of your Bumthang Festival Tour will be the day after you land in Paro. You will be met at the Paro International Airport by a guide. The guide will be there to assist you with your luggage and take you to your private vehicle. This will be followed by the journey to Thimphu, where you will be driven by the company. Thimphu is the capital of Bhutan, a very majestic and ceremonial city. The 1.5 to 2 hours of travel time on the road will be worth it as you will not only have a scenic view but also a comfortable and safe ride to Thimphu.

An early breakfast will be the starter of your day. Then, you will leave Thimphu. You will be heading to Punakha. On the way to Punakha, you will make a stop at Dochula Pass. The pass is 3,100 meters high. The 108 stupas of the pass are the main attraction for the tourists. WEATHER AND TEMPERATURE

The weather is clear with mild daytime temperatures during spring and autumn. But you will be travelling in high altitudes, so it is necessary to carry enough clothing because you will encounter lower temperatures. The nights can be freezing at high altitudes. So, pack accordingly.

Nighttime temperatures can be extremely cold, especially at campsites situated above 3,500 meters. The temperature may also drop below -10°C. So you need to have clothing rated for sub-zero conditions to keep you warm.

The main gateway to Bhutan is Paro International Airport, which is well-connected to cities like Bangkok, Delhi, Kathmandu, and Singapore. Most people arrive by air. For those traveling overland, Phuentsholing, located on the southern border with India, is the most commonly used entry point. 

 

It is recommended to begin the visa and trip booking process at least 3 to 4 weeks before your planned departure date. This allows time for processing your Bhutan visa, finalizing your itinerary, and arranging your internal logistics like guides and transportation. Although visa processing itself is relatively fast once payment is received, early preparation helps avoid delays and ensures availability, especially during peak seasons (spring and autumn).

 

You don’t require a passport-size photo for the visa, but it is wise to carry at least 2–4 recent passport-sized photographs during your trip. These may be needed for local permits, registration, or when applying for a local SIM card upon arrival in Bhutan.

No, learning Dzongkha is not required for the trip, but knowing a few basic words like "Kuzu zangpo la" (Hello) or "Kadrinche la" (Thank you) is a respectful gesture and often warmly received by locals.
