Paro lies in the centre of Paro district. Paro Dzong, also known as Rinpung Dzong. It has a history going back many centuries and beautiful architecture. The monastery of the 17th century is used as a government building and for religious functions. Paro Dzong is where one has to visit to get an insight into Bhutanese architecture. Paro Tsechu is celebrated yearly at Paro Dzong.

Bhutanese food is famous for its spicy dishes. Many Bhutanese meals include chili. You should try Ema Datshi when you arrive in Bhutan. Indian, Tibetan, and Chinese flavors are strongly present in Bhutanese cuisine. If you love to drink, you must try Suja.
