Day 1 - Splendor of Bhutan

As you arrive at the Paro Airport, you will come across the towering snow capped peaks and the breathtaking green hills along with  valleys of the Kingdom. A short walk to the Paro market in the evening will introduce you to the country’s rich cultural legacy.

 

This beautiful  journey begins with the sightseeing of the incredible Ta Dzong (The WatchTower) at Paro. Now referred to as the National Museum, it has a wide collection of ancient thangka paintings, textiles and other natural and historical artifacts.  Enrich your holiday further by visiting the ‘fortress of the heap of jewels’- Rinpung Dzong. You can view the fine wall paintings of the Buddhist lore along the wooden galleries of the splendid Rinpung Dzong.

Day 2 - JOURNEY TO THIMPHU

Before the confluence, you must visit the magnificent temple of the ‘hill of excellent horse’- Tachogang Lhakhang. Also, view the historical iron chain suspension bridge, built by the great saint Thangthong Gyalpo, which leads to this ancient temple.

As you reach the capital cityThimphu, don’t miss to visit the ‘fortress of the glorious dharma’- Tashichhodzong. This historic fortress was built by the religious and political unifier of Bhutan Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1641. Presently, it is the Centre of government and religion and houses the King’s Throne Room and the seat of the Chief Abbot of the monastic body. Further, an exploratory walk in the evening will be a soothing experience for you and a perfect end to your day

Day 3 - LOCAL SIGHTSEEING

Next on your tour list is the awestruck National Library which is a treasure trove of invaluable Buddhist manuscripts. Moreover, The Traditional Medicine Institute, The Painting School and The Folk Heritage Museum are other priceless assets of Bhutan and are worth visiting.

Visit the famous National Memorial Chorten which was erected to promote world peace and prosperity. The monument was proposed by Bhutan’s third king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk (“The Father of Modern Bhutan”) and now is an important center of spiritual and religious events. You can see the interesting view of the locals gathered around the main shrine of the stupa, chanting holy mantras.

Towards the end of the trip, explore the mesmerizing art and culture of Bhutan at the Handicrafts Emporium and the local shops which are well known for the beautiful thangka paintings, wood carvings, antique jewelry and several kinds of souvenirs.

Know Before

As you plan your trip to Bhutan, you need to know these important points:  

·         Carry your Passport with you which should be valid for at least 6 months from your exit date from Bhutan.

·          Ensure that you have a photocopy of the picture page of the passport showing all the details on it like your passport number and other important details. Keep this safely in your bag as it will fasten the process of applying for a new passport in case you lose the original one.

·         Carry the printout copy of the visa and the International air tickets with you.

·         Be prepared with layered clothing as temperature varies to a large extent in Bhutan. You can experience minimum 04 degrees to maximum 35 degrees of temperature. Temperatures vary depending on the altitude and time of the day. Always carry a couple of warm clothes in your travelling bag when you visit the country regardless of the season. 

·         It is advisable that you consume only bottled water, sodas and beer while on the trip.Tap water is  not very  safe and hygienic to drink in Bhutan.

·         Avoid eating uncooked foods like cold salad while on your tour as these are washed in normal tap water and can cause gastro-intestinal discomfort.

·         Tipping is not mandatory, but if you are satisfied to a large extent with the staff then you can appreciate them in this way.

 Few points to note

·         While in Bhutan, accept or offer articles with your right hand or with both the hands as it denotes that you honor the offering and the giver or the recipient.

·         Always walk in a clockwise direction around the Buddhist shrines and temples as it is a symbol of respect and regard. This also holds true for mani walls (stone walls with Buddhist mantras on them) and chortens.

·         Whenever in doubt, check with your guide as he will give you additional tips. You will be travelling to areas with very less foreign visitors and your warm attitude and interaction will fill adventure to the trip.

Get ready with the packing list so that you don’t miss anything you need for the marvelous trip to Bhutan.

 

  • Walking shoes – A pair of good lightweight walking shoes are required for strolling around the town

  • Shades- Sunglasses will relax your eyes from the intense sunlight and will make you feel comfortable.

  • Sun protective creams- Sunscreen protects your skin from the harmful effect of sun rays, and are highly recommended.

  • Headgears-  are useful to protect from the bright sun rays

  • Insect repellents are required to drive away mosquitoes and bugs.

  • Choose your clothing according to the season of travel to Bhutan. Cotton clothes are preferred in summers while light woolen clothes are for the evenings. Wear woolen clothes if you are visiting the country in the winter season.

  • Shorts are not allowed in public buildings and monasteries. Carry long pants or long skirts for these places, though you can wear shorts while trekking or strolling around the town.

  • Headlight is a must for night trekking and other adventurous activities while in Bhutan.

  • Powersource (Phone battery charger) – Ensure that you carry the mobile charger as your battery may die in between the trip.

 For Hikers

·         Sturdy Trekking/hiking boots- are necessary for trekking through the hilly and irregular pathways of the kingdom.

·         Sunglasses- will protect the trekkers from the bright sunlight which makes it difficult to look around.

·         Sun Protectors - Sunscreens protect your skin from the harmful effect of sun rays.

·         Headgear- protects your head while hiking and other adventures.

·         Rain Protectors- In case you encounter rain while trekking, a raincoat is the most useful thing.

·        Sleeping bag with a warm liner will ensure comfortable sleep on a cold night.

·         Head torch - will aid to visualize better the forested areas especially at night.

·         Repellents- will protect from the harmful insects and bugs while hiking.

·         Backpack- required to carry and organize all your stuff.

·         Medical kits- In case of any health issue, always carry your medical kit with you.

·    Battery charger- is a must have while on a trek for charging your phone or camera.

 

Tipping in Bhutan

It is a common practice in Bhutan to give cash tips for the outstanding services of the staff and guides. Tipping is not mandatory, but optional in Bhutan. You can reward the staff members and the drivers for their excellent services and as an appreciation for their efforts to provide you a comfortable and adventurous tour of the country.

 

 

Delayed Arrival and Departures

In Bhutan, there is no charge levied on the travelers for delays in arrival and departures as the weather conditions often disrupt the flights and roads. However, the tourists have to bear the cost of accommodation, food and transportation by themselves. It is recommended that you purchase travel insurance before you plan a trip to this fabulous destination.

If you decide to Cancel Your Confirmed Booking, here is everything there is to know about our cancellation policy:
 

Cancelling a confirmed booking

When canceling a confirmed booking it depends on the moment of cancellation if, and for what amount you will be refunded.

You will receive a full refund when canceling within 24 hours of making the booking.

You will receive a refund for the amount you paid minus the service fee when canceling more than 24 hours after making the booking and more than 60 days before the start of the booking.

When canceling less than 60 days before the booking, or if the time between the moment of booking and the start of the booking is less than 24 hours you will not receive a refund.

If an experience is canceled by the Orroh, the guest will receive a 100% refund. 

*This takes into account the starting time of the tour in the time zone of the experience.

 

Rescheduled bookings

In case your booking was rescheduled, the cancellation policy takes into account the date when the original booking was made. Therefore, whenever you cancel a booking which was rescheduled, no refunds apply.

Cancelling an unconfirmed booking

All bookings on request need to be confirmed by the host within 48 hours. If you cancel an unconfirmed booking within 48 hours, you will receive a full refund.
