Day 1 - Arrive Paro - Drive to Thimphu

Your vacation starts from the pleasing drive to Thimphu where you will find a plethora of so many sightseeing options. 

Thimphu which offers you the marvelous Simtokha Dzong which is the oldest fortress of the kingdom. The beauty of the Memorial Stupa of the Late King will surely leave you awestruck. Get a taste of the unique culture and heritage of Bhutan at the Traditional Medicine Institute, famous for its age-old healing procedures and the Painting School, for its thangka paintings. Discover the ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts at the National Library and admire the ‘fortress of the glorious religion’- Tashichhodzong.

Day 2 - Thimphu to Trongsa

As you drive towards Trongsa, don’t miss to stop at the Dochula pass (3,050m) from where you will get mesmerizing views of the glittering mountain peaks like the Gangkhar Puensum, Jeje Khang, Masagang and Gangchey Ta. Relish hot lunch at Wangduephodrang town and cross the stunning Pele la pass at 3,300m.

Day 3 - Trongsa to Bumthang

The beautiful town of Trongsa lets you see the remarkable Trongsa Dzong, an ancestral residence of the Royal family of Bhutan and the Ta Dzong (watch tower) to defend the Trongsa Dzong. Proceed to Bumthang and marvel at the 17th century Jakar Dzong. Visit the revered Kurje monastery which has the 8th century old body imprint of Guru Padmasambhava. Be captivated at the stirring Jambay Lhakhang in Bumthang.

Day 4 - Hike to Tashochenchen

Go on an exciting hike through the river of Chamkhar Chhu which is full of trout and enjoy camping at 3,120m. The path further leads through the dense spruce, hemlock, cypress, junipers and maples. Pass through the muddy pathway till you reach the campsite at the height of 3,160m. The next day, trek through the lush vegetation and reach Tashochenchen and enjoy camping above the treeline.

Day 5 - Arrive to Dur Hot Spring

Ascent upwards crossing a small lake and reaching the fascinating Juli La at 4,700m. Walk downhill and then uphill to the amazing Gothong La pass and cross a thick jungle till you reach the camp near Duer hot spring at an altitude of 3,550m. You also get a chance to see the Musk deer, Blue sheep and the Himalayan bear on this path. Spend a full day relaxing in the hot spring and soothe your senses.

Day 6 - Spend 3-5 days at the Hot Spring

Day Hike and soak in the hot spring.

Day 7 - Drive to Bumthang Valley

Start the next day early, passing through the Juli La pass again and descend downwards to the campsite. Hike downhill from Gorsum till the Duer village and spend a night at a lounge in Bumthang.

Day 8 - Drive to Punakha

Uncover the scenic beauty of the spellbinding Bumthang valley and move ahead to the town of Punakha.

Day 9 - Sight Seeing in Punakha and Wangduephodrang

Pay a visit to the gripping Punakha Dzong and the incredible stupa of Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. Towards the end, discover the thrilling Wangduephodrang Dzong and the local market, meeting with the local people and getting to know their lifestyle and traditions. 

Day 10 - Drive to Paro

Day 11 -

Your vacation ends  from the pleasing Paro where you will find a plethora  of so many sightseeing options. One of them is the exceptional Ta Dzong or the National Museum of Bhutan which is widely known for its ancient thangka paintings, textiles and weapons. Another place to visit is the fabulous Rinpung Dzong which is the Centre of administration and houses the monastic community. The Drukgyel Dzong is a popular tourist destination in Paro and was built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to celebrate his victory over the Tibetan invaders. Also, don’t forget to visit the oldest monastery, Kyichu Lhakhang, which is one of the sacred shrines of Bhutan.

Day 12 - See Of at the Airport

Know Before

As you plan your trip to Bhutan, you need to know these important points:  

·         Carry your Passport with you which should be valid for at least 6 months from your exit date from Bhutan.

·          Ensure that you have a photocopy of the picture page of the passport showing all the details on it like your passport number and other important details. Keep this safely in your bag as it will fasten the process of applying for a new passport in case you lose the original one.

·         Carry the printout copy of the visa and the International air tickets with you.

·         Be prepared with layered clothing as temperature varies to a large extent in Bhutan. You can experience minimum 04 degrees to maximum 35 degrees of temperature. Temperatures vary depending on the altitude and time of the day. Always carry a couple of warm clothes in your travelling bag when you visit the country regardless of the season. 

·         It is advisable that you consume only bottled water, sodas and beer while on the trip.Tap water is  not very  safe and hygienic to drink in Bhutan.

·         Avoid eating uncooked foods like cold salad while on your tour as these are washed in normal tap water and can cause gastro-intestinal discomfort.

·         Tipping is not mandatory, but if you are satisfied to a large extent with the staff then you can appreciate them in this way.

 Few points to note

·         While in Bhutan, accept or offer articles with your right hand or with both the hands as it denotes that you honor the offering and the giver or the recipient.

·         Always walk in a clockwise direction around the Buddhist shrines and temples as it is a symbol of respect and regard. This also holds true for mani walls (stone walls with Buddhist mantras on them) and chortens.

·         Whenever in doubt, check with your guide as he will give you additional tips. You will be travelling to areas with very less foreign visitors and your warm attitude and interaction will fill adventure to the trip.

Get ready with the packing list so that you don’t miss anything you need for the marvelous trip to Bhutan.

 

  • Walking shoes – A pair of good lightweight walking shoes are required for strolling around the town
  • Shades- Sunglasses will relax your eyes from the intense sunlight and will make you feel comfortable.
  • Sun protective creams- Sunscreen protects your skin from the harmful effect of sun rays, and are highly recommended.
  • Headgears-  are useful to protect from the bright sun rays
  • Insect repellents are required to drive away mosquitoes and bugs.
  • Choose your clothing according to the season of travel to Bhutan. Cotton clothes are preferred in summers while light woolen clothes are for the evenings. Wear woolen clothes if you are visiting the country in the winter season.
  • Shorts are not allowed in public buildings and monasteries. Carry long pants or long skirts for these places, though you can wear shorts while trekking or strolling around the town.
  • Headlight is a must for night trekking and other adventurous activities while in Bhutan.
  • Powersource (Phone battery charger) – Ensure that you carry the mobile charger as your battery may die in between the trip.

 For Hikers

·         Sturdy Trekking/hiking boots- are necessary for trekking through the hilly and irregular pathways of the kingdom.

·         Sunglasses- will protect the trekkers from the bright sunlight which makes it difficult to look around.

·         Sun Protectors - Sunscreens protect your skin from the harmful effect of sun rays.

·         Headgear- protects your head while hiking and other adventures.

·         Rain Protectors- In case you encounter rain while trekking, a raincoat is the most useful thing.

·        Sleeping bag with a warm liner will ensure comfortable sleep on a cold night.

·         Head torch - will aid to visualize better the forested areas especially at night.

·         Repellents- will protect from the harmful insects and bugs while hiking.

·         Backpack- required to carry and organize all your stuff.

·         Medical kits- In case of any health issue, always carry your medical kit with you.

·    Battery charger- is a must have while on a trek for charging your phone or camera.

 

Tipping in Bhutan

It is a common practice in Bhutan to give cash tips for the outstanding services of the staff and guides. Tipping is not mandatory, but optional in Bhutan. You can reward the staff members and the drivers for their excellent services and as an appreciation for their efforts to provide you a comfortable and adventurous tour of the country.

 

 

Delayed Arrival and Departures

In Bhutan, there is no charge levied on the travelers for delays in arrival and departures as the weather conditions often disrupt the flights and roads. However, the tourists have to bear the cost of accommodation, food and transportation by themselves. It is recommended that you purchase travel insurance before you plan a trip to this fabulous destination.

If you decide to Cancel Your Confirmed Booking, here is everything there is to know about our cancellation policy:

Cancelling a confirmed booking

When canceling a confirmed booking it depends on the moment of cancellation if, and for what amount you will be refunded.

You will receive a full refund when canceling within 24 hours of making the booking.

You will receive a refund for the amount you paid minus the service fee when canceling more than 24 hours after making the booking and more than 60 days before the start of the booking.

When canceling less than 60 days before the booking, or if the time between the moment of booking and the start of the booking is less than 24 hours you will not receive a refund.

If an experience is canceled by the Orrog, the guest will receive a 100% refund. 

*This takes into account the starting time of the tour in the time zone of the experience.

 

Rescheduled bookings

In case your booking was rescheduled, the cancellation policy takes into account the date when the original booking was made. Therefore, whenever you cancel a booking which was rescheduled, no refunds apply.

Cancelling an unconfirmed booking

All bookings on request need to be confirmed by the host within 48 hours. If you cancel an unconfirmed booking within 48 hours, you will receive a full refund.
